Dr Kamrun Nahar is an Agronomist and Professor, Department of Environmental Science and Management. She earned her PhD degree on Plant Physiology and Biochemistry at the Department of Applied Plant Sciences and Plant Biotechnology, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Austria.

Dr. Kamrun Nahar

As a biofuel researcher and environmental scientist, Dr. Kamrun Nahar most recently served as Principal Investigator and Lead Researcher of North South University’s Research and Innovation Committee Grant for academic research titled “Climate Change Mitigation and Prospect of Biofuel Production from Second Generation Energy Crops with Environmental and Socioeconomic Benefits”.

She is an elected member of the Bangladesh Association for the Advancement of Science, (BAAS) Soil Science Society of America, Asiatic Society of Bangladesh, Soil Science Society of Bangladesh and Founding Executive Committee Member, Bangladesh Green Building Council (BGBC). She has also served as the Former Secretary and Member of Institute of Environmental Professionals – Bangladesh (IEPB). 

Dr. Nahar has completed her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the Department of Applied Plant Sciences and Plant Biotechnology of Universität für Bodenkultur Wien (University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences) in 2000, at Vienna, Austria majoring in Agronomy. She also holds a Masters of Science (M.Sc) in Soil Chemistry and Bachelors of Science (B.Sc. Hons) in Soil Science from the Department of Soil, Water and Environment at the University of Dhaka.
